WALTZ

Hello!

The first dance is one of the most stressful moments at our wedding.

Nowadays more couples decide to learn a choreography instead of swinging spontaneously to their favorite song.

In my opinion, the easiest dance to learn is a waltz and it fits the best for the wedding, because it looks the most elegant. Choreography doesn't have to be very complicated - you can learn some basic steps by yourself. You can also go to dance school, or ask some friend who can dance to give you some tips.

We choose with my fiance the song UNCHAINED MELODY, known from film Ghost. Although the original song is not in proper rhythm, we found a special waltz version. There are many famous songs, recorded in the waltz version.

Below I list some interesting examples.

Katy Perry - The one that got away
One Republic - Apologize
Adele - Someone like you
Adele - Skyfall
Yiruma - River flows in you

Do you know any other famous songs in waltz version?

Wedding dress - new or used?

I planned firstly to borrow a dress because this choice is generally 30% cheaper. Moreover, I found buying an expensive dress which I will wear only once in my lifetime a waste of money.

My dreamed dress was always 'princess' type, with a tulle bottom. In the wedding salon I tried on a few dress types and it turned out, that my dreamed fashion fits the best for my figure!

Unfortunately, vendors are not very willing to borrow dresses with tulle bottoms, because this fabric is very gentle and damageable, so I was forced to buy the dress because I cannot imagine wearing a different cut.

Below I provide some advantages and disadvantages of buying/borrowing wedding dresses, which may help you in making a decision which would be a better solution for you.

NEW DRESS

Wedding dress is one of the most important wedding purchases, so we shouldn't regret money if we want to look good! It is the best way for sentimental women.

The only disadvantage of buying a new dress is that it can be quite expensive.  However,  sometimes it may turn out to be more economical when you decide to buy a new dress than borrowing a one.

I bought a dress from my hometown designer,  which cost me about 2200 zlotys with all necessary accessories included (except shoes), while one of my friends who went to seek a dress to one of bigger cities, paid 2400 zlotys for only borrowing a dress, without accessories. I can always sell my dress after the wedding so this difference in money can be even bigger than 200 zlotys...

USED DRESS

It would really help you to save money. You can find a used dress even for 100 zlotys! So you can get a used dress almost for free if you are a good occasion seeker... If you start to seek a dress a long time before the wedding, it is very possible that you will find something interesting.

However, seeking a used dress is quite time-consuming. It is very hard to find a chosen type of dress with a matching size... In most cases visit in laundry and sewer is necessary, but still, it is a way cheaper solution than buying a new dress or borrowing.

BORROWED DRESS

The only advantage of this solution is that a borrowed dress is usually 30% cheaper than a new one. However, the difference in price isn't as big as when you buy a used dress, and sometimes it may turn out that buying a new dress on sale is cheaper...

I advice you to consider it few times, before you decide to borrow a dress, because it isn't always economic solution.

Wedding invitations

Hello everyone!

There have only 98 days left for my wedding. I started to feel that this time is coming closer very fast... It is quite stressful but also makes me happy.

We just have finished making our wedding invitations and we started slowly giving them to the guests, which inspired me to write something about wedding invitations.

We didn't like any of non-personalized invitations, which are generally available to buy in bookstores or flower shops, so we decided to make invitations on our own.

We thought that it will help us save some money, but in fact, this solution didn't turn out to be much cheaper. However, it is very satisfying to have our own, unique invitations!

Making them was quite time consuming, but it was worth it. We had so much fun doing them together!

If you aren't master in photoshop, don't worry. On internet, you can find many tutorials or free printables, which you can personalize.

I find some more unusual pictures on the internet, which may also inspire you.

If DIY's are really too much for you, and you simply have no time, you can also buy personalized invitations. It is quite expensive but looks very original as well.

I recommend the site www.projektslub.blogspot.com , because they design not only very innovative invitations but also other things which are necessary for a wedding, like alcohol hangers, table numbers, place cards and more.

Do you like the idea of making things on your own for a wedding?
Or maybe you think that it is better to leave this thing to professionals?

Wedding color

Picking colors for a wedding is an important thing if we want it to be consistent and elegant.

It can be one, two or maximum three matching colors which will be used in decorations and accessories.

Below I  provide you some inspirations of top wedding colors :)

My favorite combination of colors are mint & gold!  I already pick this gorgeous mix for my wedding.

This fresh palette of colors is great for summer weddings.

Now you know, why my blog is so minty ;)

Pink is also a good choice for a wedding party. It looks very romantic and innocent.

It also perfectly combines with mint.

As well as it matches gold.

Purple has been very popular at weddings lately.

I love the way how it contrasts with green. It is a very bold mix, but how effective!

Green itself is a good choice for a spring wedding.

Warm orange & yellow fit perfectly for fall and summer weddings.

That would be enough for today.

Which color you liked the most?

Maybe I will add more color inspirations later, because this topic is very wide, and there are many combinations I didn't mention;)

Wedding rings

My previous post was about wedding ring holders, but of course, the more important thing is what we actually put in that holder, so today I am going to write something about wedding rings ;)

Wedding ring is a thing which you will wear till the end of your lifetime, so it must be well-thought-out purchase.

I do not recommend buying rings with the shallow outside carver, because after a few years it will shave and ring won't look very effective.

Most couples decide to buy classic wedding rings, with no ornaments. This is the most practical way, and I agree that classical things in most cases fit the best.

Although, I have some propositions, for people who don't like standard solutions.

Usually, women care more about how a wedding ring looks.  A small diamond on a women wedding ring is a nice feminine accent :)

Rings with fingerprint carver look very creative and are a  huge hit recently.  It can be outside or inside.

Symbol of love looks great on wedding rings. I especially like the example with heart halves:)

EKG trace is also an original reference to love :)

Greek pattern is for couples who don't like minimalist solutions.

Who said that your spouse name can be only engraved internally? Rings with names visible outside are an interesting idea for bold couples:)

Nowadays, most the jewelers are elastic so you can put on your wedding ring any symbol you want.

I recommend going to local jewelers because they usually have lower prices of gold and even they won't have your dreamed pattern in their offer, most of them are able to design something you wish.

Wedding ring holders

Today I will present a few possible ways of holding wedding rings at a wedding ceremony.

I will begin from most common ideas, and I will end at the most unconventional solutions.

SILVER PLATTER

This solution is common among people, who don't care about details, because if you don't buy any ring holder, the church or the registry office usually will borrow you this kind of thing.
However, I think it looks pretty elegant.

PILLOW

Pillow holders are very popular solution at weddings.
Nowadays, we can find a huge variety of pillow styles, and they don't have to be necessary white.
I especially like personalized ones, with date and names or initials.

I highly recommend you the shop www.decorisus.pl , because it offers the biggest amount of different kinds of pillows, and allows you to choose colors and type of ring fixing - it can be box, ribbon, or pin.

The last pillow is made by moss, which is a huge hit lately :)

Now it is time for some pillow alternatives!

Wedding rings can be delivered almost in everything, it just needs to look neat.

Maybe having your own wedding holder isn't really a must have at the wedding, but it can be nice and cheap decoration :)

Moreover, photos of your wedding rings look fantastic when you have an elegant holder!

5 lovely guestbook ideas!

Maybe guestbook isn't really a necessary thing at a wedding, but for sure it will be great remembrance.

I am not a huge fan of casual guestbooks, because I find them kind of boring, but I gathered a few unconventional ideas, which you may like!

CALENDAR

Let's begin from the cheapest and the simplest idea.

The guestbook in the form of the calendar doesn't require much effort, but looks very original!

You may tell your guests to leave a note on the date of their birth, what will help you remember about every important jubilarian in the future:)

FINGERPRINT TREE

Fingerprinting is very effective and elegant idea.

We can buy a special picture at an online shop but it is a quite expensive solution, so we can also paint or print our own project in the chosen size.

Don't worry if you don't have great design abilities, there are plenty of printables on the internet which you can use for free.

It doesn't have to necessarily be a tree, it can be also balloon or heart... It depends on the imagination.

GLOBE

This is a great solution for people who love to travel.

It looks very romantic!

ENVELOPES

Preparing this kind of guestbook can be quite a time consuming, but is very inimitable.

QUESTIONNAIRE

Asking for your guests' opinion is a very interesting idea.

Guests will surely fill the questionnaire with a smile on their face.

Designing this kind of survey isn't very complicated, but you can also use free printables from the internet.

Wedding DIY - Alcohol hangers

Hello!
Today I will present you my first DIY tutorial.
I was searching the internet for inspiration to alcohol hangers and I found a very interesting idea - a tie.

That decoration is available to buy in many online shops, but I decided to try to do it by myself.
It turned out to be very easy to make, and I think, that it is worth to share my technique with you!

All we gonna need is :

- three sizes of ribbon  -  the best will be 25 mm, 12 mm and 6 mm
- scissors
- lighter
- glue or  two-sided sticky tape

At the beginning we cut out a part of the widest ribbon in a shape like on this picture and carefully burn the cut edges by the lighter so they won't unravel.

Next, we fold our ribbon and we tie the top, using the narrow band.

Then we cut out unnecessary parts of narrow ribbon.

The following step is cutting a part of the 12 mm ribbon. The length depends on our bottleneck.

At one end we add some glue, or we stick some tape.
Now, all we need to do is hang our tie on the bottleneck.

Done!

This tutorial can be useful not only for a wedding, but you can also use this decoration when you give someone alcohol as a gift for some occasion :)
